Spur Gear Motors

The simplest, most efficient small DC gear motor uses straight-cut gear trains on 10mm to 37mm brushed motors, with ratios from 3:1 to 1000:1 and plastic or metal gears.

The 12mm N20/N30 family is the most widely used micro gear motor in smart locks, small robots, and instruments, so Spur gear motors suit compact, cost-sensitive designs.

Planetary Gear Motors

These offer the highest torque density per diameter with a coaxial output, spanning 12mm to 42mm frames and brushed, brushless, or coreless drives.

Ratios reach up to 1621:1 with encoder options, and this is the platform behind SLW Motor's patented planetary gear motor design, detailed under Planetary gear motors.

Worm Gear Motors

A 90° output self-locks under load, covering 8mm stepper worm drives up to the 31mm high-torque worm gear motor with up to 300 kg·cm stall.

The line also includes 36mm and 58mm BLDC worm builds, all gathered under Worm gear motors.

Stepper Gear Motors

Geared stepper motors from 8mm to 15mm come with inline, parallel, 90°, or worm gearboxes for open-loop positioning.

Ratios run from 10:1 to 1000:1, and the full range sits under Stepper gear motors.

Right Angle Gear Motors

Every 90°-output configuration across the brushed, coreless, stepper, and BLDC lines is collected in one place.

Browse them together under Right angle gear motors to compare 90° options across drive types.

Drive types

  • Brushed DC motors

Permanent-magnet micro DC motors from 12mm N20 to 42mm 775, 3–24V, two-wire drive with no controller — the base of most DC geared motors. See Brushed DC motors, Brushless DC motors (BLDC), Coreless DC motors, and Low voltage DC motors.

  • Brushless DC motors (BLDC)

16mm to 60mm, 6–48V, no brush wear for continuous duty; bare or as a BLDC gear motor with planetary or worm reduction, in Hall sensor, sensorless, encoder, and high speed configurations.

  • Coreless DC motors

10mm to 22mm ironless-rotor motors, brushed or brushless, with the lowest inertia and smoothest low-speed running, as bare motors or coreless gear motors.

  • Low voltage DC motors

The 3V–24V range across all three drive types for battery-powered and 12V/24V systems.

  • High Torque Motors

The low-rpm, high-torque end of every platform, up to 500 kg·cm stall torque on the 42mm planetary gear motors.

  • Linear Actuator Motors

M4 screw-output gear motors and drivetrains for micro linear actuators.

  • Mini Gearboxes

Standalone spur, planetary, and worm gearbox reducers from 10mm to 45mm for pairing with your own motor.

  • Precision Gears

Loose gears machined to your drawing in brass, stainless steel, powder-metallurgy alloys, or engineering plastics.

Requirement

For High torque DC motors we cover the low-rpm, high-torque end of every platform, up to 500 kg·cm stall torque on the 42mm planetary gear motors.

For Linear actuator motors we build M4 screw-output gear motors and drivetrains for micro linear actuators.

  • Mini gearboxes: Standalone spur, planetary, and worm reducers from 10mm to 45mm.
  • Precision gears: Loose gears machined to your drawing in brass, stainless steel, or plastics.
  • High torque: Up to 500 kg·cm stall torque on 42mm planetary gear motors.
  • Linear actuators: M4 screw-output gear motors and drivetrains for micro linear actuators.
In-House

What Sets These DC Gear Motors Apart

Motor and gearbox are matched under one roof, so every pairing is sized to the motor's real torque curve.

  • Matched Build

Coil winding, gearbox machining, and final assembly run in the same factory, so each DC motor gearbox is sized to the motor's real torque curve.

  • Customization

Torque, speed, voltage, and power are tuned per project, with planetary, spur, worm, or plastic gear trains and housings in brass, stainless steel, powder-metallurgy alloys, or engineering plastics.

  • Integration

Encoder integration, PCB soldering, wire harness assembly, and module integration ship as part of the gear motor, not as an afterthought.

  • Inspection

Incoming inspection, in-process testing, and final verification run on every batch, under ISO 9001:2015 with RoHS and Halogen-Free reporting.

  • Supply

Flexible small-batch customization and stable bulk delivery run on the same line, serving OEM/ODM buyers in 30+ countries across medical devices, automation, robotics, smart devices, and precision equipment.

Unlike DC gear motor suppliers that resell a motor and a gearbox coupled afterwards, these DC gear motors keep the same factory from sample to bulk.

Selection

How to Choose a DC Gear Motor

Five decisions take you from required output to a confirmed envelope, then to a quote or a custom gearbox drawing.

  • Output

Fix torque and speed at the shaft first, including stall torque at any hard stop; Output covers the numbers. when you need a custom gearbox instead of a standard motor

  • Gearbox

Spur for cost and efficiency, planetary for torque density, worm for a 90° self-locking output, as Gearbox compares.

  • Drive

Pick the drive type: brushed for the simplest, lowest-cost drive, brushless for continuous duty and long life, coreless for fast response and smooth low-speed motion.

  • Feedback

Decide on feedback — open-loop, stepper, Hall sensor, or encoder — depending on whether the mechanism needs to know its position.

  • Envelope

Confirm the envelope, then Envelope with those numbers or a drawing for a custom gearbox.

FAQ

FAQ

A DC gear motor is a DC motor with a gearbox on its output shaft, reducing speed and multiplying torque.

What is a DC gear motor?
A DC gear motor is a DC motor with a gearbox attached to its output shaft. The gearbox reduces speed and multiplies torque by the gear ratio.
DC gear motor vs. DC motor with gearbox?
Nothing in principle — "DC geared motor", "DC gearmotor", and "DC motor with gearbox" all describe the same assembly. The difference is whether motor and gearbox were matched as one unit.
What sizes of small DC gear motors do you make?
From 8mm stepper gear motors and 10mm brushed and coreless gear motors up to 42mm planetary gear motors and 58mm BLDC worm gear motors, plus standalone gearbox reducers from 10mm to 45mm.
Do you sell DC gear motors to OEM buyers in small quantities?
Yes. SLW Motor supports sample orders and small-batch customization as well as stable bulk delivery; MOQ and lead time are confirmed per configuration when you request a quote.
