Mini Gearboxes

A mini gearbox — also called a micro gearbox or gearhead — pairs a small-diameter, precision-machined gear train with a compact housing to cut speed and add torque inside a tight envelope.

Mini Gearbox Range by Type

Spur, planetary and worm mini gearboxes cover light loads, high torque density and right-angle self-locking output.

  • Spur Mini Gearboxes

The simplest, most efficient reduction for light loads, with same-direction or reverse output depending on stage count.

    • Sizes: 10mm, 12mm, 13mm and 15mm
    • Ratios: 20–250, 3–1000 and 6–360
    • Output: Same-direction or reverse by stage count
  • Planetary Mini Gearboxes

Coaxial, 1–4 stages, the highest torque density per diameter, with sizes from 10mm up to 45mm.

    • Sizes: 10mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 22mm, 28mm, 36mm, 42mm and 45mm
    • Ratios: Up to 509:1, 5–1080, 4–625, 3.7–721 and up to 515:1
    • Torque: 800–2,000 g·cm rated on 16mm
  • Worm Mini Gearboxes

Right-angle output with self-locking hold, in 18mm and 24mm sizes.

    • Sizes: 18mm and 24mm
    • Ratios: 42–2025 and 26–1000
    • Torque: 300–400 g·cm and 200–500 g·cm rated

Exact ratio, torque, and backlash figures are confirmed against your load and duty cycle once we review your drawing, so send your drawing for a ratio check and we'll match the mini gearbox to your application.

Spec

Spec Confirmation

Module, gear tolerance class, surface finish, minimum order quantity, and sample lead time are not fixed catalog values — gear geometry changes with your envelope.

Each of these is confirmed once we've reviewed your ratio, load, and shaft/housing requirements, keeping quotes accurate instead of promising a generic number that doesn't match your actual part.

  • Module: Confirmed after ratio and load review
  • Gear tolerance class: Set to your envelope, not catalog
  • Surface finish: Confirmed with your shaft and housing needs
  • Minimum order quantity: Confirmed once requirements are reviewed
  • Sample lead time: Confirmed after we review your part
Quality

Materials & Quality Process

Housing and gear material is chosen for wear resistance, weight, or cost per application, and every gear train is verified before it ships.

  • Housing Material

Brass, stainless steel, powder-metallurgy alloys, or engineering plastics are selected to match the demands of each application.

  • Gear Material

Gear material is picked for wear resistance, weight, or cost depending on what the application needs most.

  • Incoming Inspection

Every gear train passes incoming inspection before it moves further into the build.

  • In-Process Testing

In-process testing checks the gear train while it is being made.

  • Final Verification

Final verification confirms dimensional accuracy and consistent performance before the gearbox ships.

Each gear train is inspected on arrival, tested during production, and verified at the end for dimensional accuracy and consistent performance.

Integration

Motor + Gearbox Integration

A mini gearbox works bare or pre-paired with our brushed, brushless, coreless, or stepper motors as a complete DC gear motor assembly — one part number, common in robotics and automation.

Either route keeps the gear train identical; only the drive end changes. This combination is common in robotics and automation builds where torque density and footprint both matter.
